Joan Sergison

Joan Marie Sergison, age 83, al longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, New York, died peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Taconic Rehabilitation in Highland, New York.

She was born January 4, 1943, in Poughkeepsie, to the late Herbert Barrenger and Anna Mae Kuhn.

On October 10, 1981, she married Victor T. Sergison in Poughkeepsie, and she and her husband shared 32 years of marriage until his passing in 2013.

Joan was a dedicated secretary working for the Dutchess County Office for the Aging before her retirement.

She was a longtime member of the Episcopal faith and attended St. James Episcopal Church in Hyde Park.

She is survived by her sisters Frances Kramlich, Carol Angevine; three brothers, Robert Barrenger, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, and great nieces and great nephews.

Along with her parents she was also predeceased by her two brothers John Barrenger, and Richard Barrenger

Calling hours will from 10 to 11am on February 5th at Sweet's Funeral Home, 4365 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, New York 12538.

A funeral service will follow at the Funeral Home at 11am.

Interment will take follow at the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
