Susan Lee Dingee

Susan Lee Dingee (or Susie Q, or Aunt Oo-ie, depending on who you ask) was born on March 14, 1961, in Poughkeepsie, NY and died on February 27, 2026, in her colorful, love-filled room surrounded by family at Meadows at Brookmeade in Rhinebeck, NY.

Susie is survived by her brother, Chris Dingee; sister-in-law, (the other) Susan Dingee; niece, Sara Dingee Considine; nephew-in-law, Dan Considine; and their dog, Kita; and mother, Ann Dingee; as well as her dear friends, Sandy Rogers and Jim Hedden. She joins her father, Harold Allen Dingee, and her beloved beagle, Daisy, in heaven.

Susie lived a life of service, working for three decades in the cafeteria at St. Francis Hospital, where she found a permanent home in the hearts of all who met her.

Susie's life was full of joy, kindness, creativity, and light. She loved animals, angels, crafting, baking, and spending time with her loved ones. All who met her are better for it; she loved and was loved instantly and wholly. The world was a better place with her in it.

Thank you to the truly incredible staff at Brookmeade, who became her family, to the medical teams who matched her courageous spirit and helped her live life to the fullest, and to Mother Meredith and St. James' Episcopal Church for keeping Susie in their prayers and hearts.

Susie was a generous and giving soul- please donate to a cause of your choosing in her honor.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Calling hours will be Friday March 6th from 4 to 7pm at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Funeral Service will be on Saturday March 7th at 10am at St. James' Episcopal Church, 4526 Albany Post Rd., Hyde Park. Rev. Meredith Kadet Sanderson will officiate.

Burial of her ashes will be private.
