Chillicothe - Marion L. Geiger, 99, of 913 W. Beech St., Chillicothe, Ill., died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Chillicothe.
He was born on March 9, 1907, in Cissna, the son of John and Anna Berger Geiger. He married Elzona K. Urban in June 1938 in Paxton. He married Marjorie Lynds on Feb. 15, 1953, in Peoria. Marjorie survives of Chillicothe.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ann (Frank) Geiger-Knoll of Chillicothe and Kay (John) Roberts of Sunset Beach, N.C.; two sons, Tom (Maria) Geiger of Chillicothe and Jim (Diane) Geiger of Lakeville, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
He attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University.
In 1938, he opened the Geiger Cash Hardware, located on Second Street in Chillicothe, and in 1948, the Geiger True Value in Chillicothe. In 1949, he became the 33rd member of True Value.
He was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church. He was a charter member of the Arrowhead Country Club and the Pearce Community Center in Chillicothe.
He enjoyed golf, traveling in his free time and gardening.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at the Chillicothe Bible Church in Chillicothe. The Rev. Mark Norman will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.
