WYOMING - Mildred A. Stear, 89, formerly of Wyoming, Ill., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Nov. 29, 2014, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division St., Davenport. Visitation was at 4 p.m. Nov. 28, 2014, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., in downtown Davenport, Iowa, and concluded at 7 p.m. with a prayer service. There will be an additional visitation today at church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Davenport.
Mildred was born Oct. 23, 1925, in Wyoming, Ill., a daughter of Ralph and Bernadette (Sager) Cox. She was united in marriage to Gene L. Stear in 1952 in Wyoming, Ill. He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2014.
Mildred enjoyed bingo, bowling and crafts.
She was a charter member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a former member of the Moose club.
She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters, Teresa (Keith) Stradt of Dows, Iowa, Karen Hoffmann of Roscoe, Ill., and Jeanette (Tim) Masterson of Davenport; sons, Kevin (Connie) Stear of Donahue, Iowa, Matthew (Janet) Stear of Dover, Ohio, Craig (Lisa) Stear of Byron, Ill., and Scott (Cindy) Stear of Roscoe, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Banz of Wyoming, Ill., and Lois Smith of Peoria, Ill.; brother, William Cox of Wyoming, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Gene; a great-grandchild, Hayden Masterson; brothers, Clement, Kenneth and Robert Cox; and sister, Jean Saline. May they rest in peace.
The family would like to thank Iowa Masonic Health Facilities, nurses and staff and Heartland Hospice for all the love and compassion given to their mother.
