WASHINGTON - Nicholas M. "Nick" Krus, 27, of Washington, formerly of Germantown Hills, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, in Mine LaMotte, Mo.
He was born on July 4, 1980, in Peoria to Ronnie L. and Tonya A. Brummitt Krus.
He is survived by his parents of Germantown Hills. He is also survived by two sisters, Kasey Krus and Haley Krus, both of Germantown Hills; his grandmother, Barbara Brummitt, one great-grandmother, Francee Brummitt, both of East Peoria; aunts and uncles, Bill and Diane Brummitt and Jim and Rebecca Brummitt, all of East Peoria, Brian and Cheryl Brummitt of Pekin, Jennifer and Tim Defebagh of Mackinaw, Carol Krus of Peoria, Matt Ward of Iowa and Kelly Watson of Bartonville; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by Lynn A. Ward; his grandparents, Don and Sandra Ward and Vera and Max Krus; grandfather, William F. Brummitt; and uncle, Wayne Krus.
A 1999 graduate of Metamora High School, he worked for the Peoria Post Office, Mitsubishi Motors in Bloomington, Ill., and last worked as a welder at Caterpillar Tractor Inc., working in Building LL in East Peoria.
He was baptized Catholic.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Cremation rites will then be accorded. Memorial services will then be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Eckhardt officiating. Burial of ashes will follow in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nicholas Krus memorial fund established at any CEFCU.

Some people are so afraid to die that they never begin to live. This wasn't the case with Nick. He knew what was out there and he loved every minute of it. He will definitely be missed but certainly not forgotten. My sympathy goes out to Kasey and the rest of the fam.
