EAST PEORIA - Rena I. Rayner, 77, of East Peoria passed away at 9:55 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at Timbercreek Rehab and Healthcare center in Pekin, Ill.
She was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Pekin, Ill., to Perry and Margaret Hurrt Smith. She married James S. Rayner in Pekin, Ill., in November 1947. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Rena is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Larry) Jenks of Sunnyland, Ill., Christine Walters of Lafayette, Ind., Debra (Dennis) Pickles of Glasford, Ill., and Crystal McMullen of North Pekin, Ill.; five sons, Michael (Susie) Rayner of Morton, Ill., Mitchell (Grace) Rayner of North Pekin, Ill., Thomas (Debbie) Rayner of Carthage, Mo., Timothy J. Rayner of East Peoria, Ill., and Brian (Shawna) Rayner of East Peoria, Ill; 24 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was a longtime member of American Legion Post 983 in East Peoria and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in East Peoria, Ill.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, Ill. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment of Rena's ashes will be at Fondulac Cemetery at a later date.
