HENRY - Richard J. "Dick" Anderson, 82, of 1007 College St., Henry, Ill., passed away 11:52 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Princeton, Ill., to Clarence and Icle (Hock) Anderson. He married Doris M. Wright on Sept. 18, 1949, in Putnam, Ill. She survives, along with two sons, Bruce (Nette) Anderson and Craig (Patti) Anderson; and one daughter, Jill (Steve) Casper. Also surviving are three grandsons, Jeremy, Joel (Amy) and Kyle Anderson; and two sisters, Joyce Rowe and Dorothy Schneid.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Fran, and an infant daughter, Carolyn.
He was a member of the greatest generation and proudly served his country in the Pacific Theater during World War II as an Army medic, earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
He was former co-owner of C.E. Anderson and Son Trucking and retired as a driver for Advance Asphalt.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Henry.
He belonged to the Henry Masonic Lodge 119, where he was a Worshipful Master. He was a Mohammed Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite. He also belonged to the Henry American Legion Post 323.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Norman Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Henry Funeral Home "Downtown Chapel" and also Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church. Masonic rites will be accorded at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the donor's choice.

Dick was such a joy to know. He had such a good sense of humor and always had a wonderful smile. Our prayers go out to you, Doris, and to your children and the grandchildren. I know that Dick will be missed by everyone.
