Sean Goonan Obituary
WASHINGTON - Sean Patrick Goonan, 39, of Washington, IL, died at 1:14 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at his home.
Born on March 7, 1979, in Valparaiso, IN, he is survived by his loving parents, Dolores and John Goonan of Washington, IL.
Sean was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Julia Pytko; and his paternal grandparents, Helen Pallis and John J. Goonan.
He was a 1998 graduate of Washington Community High School and worked at Lindy's Downtown Market during high school and several years after. He later worked at Famous Barr, Macy's and Bergner's in Peoria.
He enjoyed working with Special Olympics and volunteering for adults and children who had special needs. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the University of Notre Dame. He also took a great interest in his family's Irish heritage.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Father John Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services.
Memorials for Sean may be made to Special Olympics.

John and Delores you have my deepest sympathy. I am so very sorry for your loss. I know what it is like to lose a loved one so suddenly. He was a gift to you which you will always cherish.
