PEORIA - Tom Scoma, 70, of Peoria passed away at 9:20 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1942, in Rockford, Ill., to Tony and Mary (Sparacino) Scoma.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Diane (Poulos) Scoma, whom he married on Jan. 25, 1965, in Rockford, Ill. Also surviving are his three sons, Jeff (Sydney) Scoma of Seattle, Wash., Troy (Renee) Scoma of Tempe, Ariz., and Tommy Scoma of Dallas, Texas; and three grandchildren, Gianna, Ally and Luke.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom earned his bachelor's degree in music education from Bradley University. He put himself through school by playing his saxophone as a member of the Armadas band. He also toured Japan, New York and the entire East Coast playing his sax.
Tom also played duplicate bridge. He loved to travel, especially to places like Sicily, Hawaii and Greece.
Tom's true passion was his family. He especially enjoyed his time spent with his grandchildren. Tom was the owner of multiple bingo halls in central Illinois. He also owned and operated Collector's World and Big League Sports.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.

Tom and I attended St. Thomas H.S. "57 - "61. My wife Anna Marie knew him as well during grade and high school. Shared fun times with Tom during those days. Our condolences to Tom's family. Rich and Anna Marie (Dworak) Arbisi.

It's always a sad occasion when someone passes, but especially sad when it's a fellow musician. I knew Tom in the late 50s and early 60s when we performed in a "Battle of the Bands". I recall him as a good man. Bless you and yours.

To the Scoma family,sorry for your loss. Tom was a great guy. I enjoyed going to collectors world . Tom let me sort baseball cards for him . I also enjoyed big league sports. I enjoyed meeting the family too . Diane and the kids , your husband and dad was special. Tom let me enjoy collecting memorabilia .I still do to this day because of Tom.
