Teddy Wilson "Ted" Baker, 83, of Milton, Florida, formerly of Wabash, Indiana went to be with his Lord and Savior at 1:15 pm, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at HCA Florida West in Pensacola, Florida. He was born on January 6, 1942, in Wabash, to Rev. Joseph Wilson and Miriam (Young) Baker.
Ted served in the US Air Force, until his discharge in 1964. He married Rita Ingle in Bluffton, Indiana on June 5, 1965, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. Ted worked in the telephone industry for 53 years, retiring from Frontier Communications in 2016. He was a very active member of the Colerain Street Community Church in Wabash. Ted enjoyed reading his Bible, fishing, playing word games on his tablet, taking nature walks, and loved to sing. He belonged to a quartet for several years. Ted loved to sit by the calm water, and also enjoyed helping people and praying with them, but his true passion was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Baker of Milton, Florida; three daughters, Regina (Greg) Newman of Milton, Florida, Julie (Benito) Perez of Wabash, Indiana, and Cindy (Jorge) Balderas of Andrews, Indiana; grandchildren, Amy (Darran) Cornett of Milton, Florida, Margarita Perez and Jeremiah (Cheyanne) Perez, both of Washington, Joleen Balderas of Andrews, Indiana, Abbie Cornett of Milton, Florida, and Brooklyn Haun of Indianapolis, Indiana; and his sister, Betty Stirlin of Wabash, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Buddy Baker.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Steve Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Cemetery, Laketon, Indiana. Visitation for family and friends will be 12-2 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is the Wounded Warrior Project.
