“ May the road rise to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May the lord hold you in the palm of his hand” - traditional Irish blessing.
My pop pop was an Irish man who swore his father once played cards with the devil and that he walked 10 miles to school with potatoes in his pockets to keep his hands warm then ate them for lunch. A tough old marine who cherished the brotherhood and became buddies with my husband exchanging laughs and stories. A man of great faith in the lord who never missed a Sunday mass and even in his last blessing was still able to make the sign of the cross. Most importantly he was a family man who loved to hear that everyone was doing well and he was always cheering for you. He was the center staple of all our family parties. He loved desserts, golf, America, and being a jokester. We will truly miss you PopPop and I’ll “stand up tall and tell em’ where I got it from” don’t worry.
