Dean W. Cook

Dean W. Cook, 74, of East Stroudsburg, died on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 17, upon arrival at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg after being stricken at home. He was the husband of Betty A. (Spanish) Cook, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage on Nov. 1, 2007.

Born on May 12, 1933, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Earl Wesley and Olive Charlotte (Snyder) Cook and lived permanently in Monroe County for the past 22 years, moving from Lansdale.

Prior to retiring in 1985, he and his wife operated The Village Workshop in the Lansdale area for 20 years.

He was a member of Light of the World Church in Stroudsburg and loved living his quiet life at Analomink Lake.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Germany Irving and her husband, Richard, of Hummelstown and Laurie Perkerson of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jamie Germany, D.J. Germany, Ryan Perkerson, Jonathan Germany, Ashley Perkerson and Amber Perkerson; and a brother, Dennis Cook.

There will be a closed-casket visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, at Light of the World Church, 831 Ann St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the church, with Pastor Angelo Pierri officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Bethel Hill United Methodist Cemetery in Worcestor Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to The Building Fund of Light of the World Church, 831 Ann St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
