Born on June 24, 1923, in Mount Pocono, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry A. and Agnes (Lynn) Mutchler.
Donald served in the United States Army. He was a decorated war veteran of World War II and the Korean War. During World War II, he served in the North African Campaign and the Middle Eastern European Campaign in the Third Division and Tank Division. He then served in the Korean Campaign and participated in the First Prisoner of War Exchange. He was awarded numerous medals for his meritorious war record. He was decorated by the French president Charles de Gaulle, Siegmund Rhee and Franklin D. Roosevelt. After serving his country, Donald continued to work as a laborer for Local #1174 AFL-CIO of Allentown, Pa. until his retirement in 1986. Donald also worked for Hughes Printing Company and for Frank Lanterman of the Lanterman Funeral Home, both in East Stroudsburg, Pa. He was a member of the Branham Tabernacle of Jeffersonville, Ind. Donald was a resident of Monroe County most of his lifetime.
In addition to Star, who resides at home, he is survived by three daughters, Star Donna Parker of Jeffersonville, Ind., Linda Jean Rushin of Henryville, Pa. and Terry L. Mutchler of Chicago, Ill.; four sons, Charles J. Mutchler of Jefferson, Ind., Joseph Mutchler of Jeffersonville, Ind., David W. Mutchler of Stroudsburg, Pa. and Rose Cramer of Monroe Lakes Shores, Pa.; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by one daughter, Roseanna Mutchler an by three brothers, Richard, Fred and Raymond Mutchler.
Funeral services will be held at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, in East Stroudsburg, Pa., on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. David L. Sanger officiating. Burial will take place following the service on Tuesday at Stroudsburg Cemetery in Stroudsburg, Pa.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, Nov. 25 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, in East Stroudsburg, Pa.
