Gertrude R. Nielsen, 93, of Reeders, died Sunday, June 6, 2021 while under hospice care at Whitestone Care Center in Stroud Township.
Born on August 12, 1927 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Florence (Melody) Morrell and previously lived in Queens, NY, Massapequa, NY and Mt. Pocono.
She was a "jack of all trades" having worked in retail, restaurants and printing.
Gertrude was member of the First Baptist Church of Masapequa, NY, attended Community Church in Tobyhanna and Innovation Church in Cresco. She was an avid volunteer of AWSOM, and active member of the Pocono Garden Club and was the in-house nail technician at Whitestone Care Center.
Surviving are three daughters, Christine Khouri of Reeders, Jill Colon of Bothell, WA and April Willi of Copiague, NY; seven grandchildren, Brian Riewerts of Annapolis, MD, Jennifer Janos of Tamworth, NH, Jason Colon of Bothell, WA, Jarrod Colon of Rosemead, CA, Erik Riewerts of Flat Rock, NC, Matthew Willi of Lindenhurst, NY and Jaclyn Willi of Amityville, NY; and adopted grandmother to Erik Evans of Baton Rouge, LA; great grandmother to five; great great grandmother to one; mother-in-law to James Colon and Robert Khouri; and loving Nana to Celeste Colon, Pamela Riewerts and Macha Colon. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur Morrell, Harold Morrell, Vincent Morrell and Jack Morrell.
There will be viewing hours on Tuesday, June 8, from 2:00 to 4:00PM and 6:00 to 8:00PM (with a funeral service at 7:00PM) at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Private cremation will follow
