Robert James Foster, 79, of Spout Spring, Va., formerly of Saylorsburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, at Appomattox Health Care Center in Virginia. He was the husband of Dorothy (Achey) Foster of Spout Spring, Va.
Born in Laurys Station on Feb. 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Augustus U. and Lillian (Andrews) Foster. He lived most of his life in Monroe County before moving to Virginia six years ago.
He was a retired superintendent of Brookside Gardens Apartment Complex.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Spout Spring, Va.; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion Post 104; and former member of Neola Methodist Church. He spent a lot of time at the Senior Center in East Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Suzann and John Lewis of Spout Spring, Va., and Sally Eileen and William Collister of Saylorsburg; one son and daughter-in-law, James Robert and Lisa Foster of North Pole, Alaska; one brother, Theodore Foster of Treichlers; four sisters, Evelyn A. Koehler of Allentown; Louise E. Foster of Slatington, June E. Pummer of Whitehall, and Flora F. Lichtenwalner of New Tripoli; six grandchildren, Steven Lewis of Effort, Mark Lewis of Spout Spring, Va., and David Foster, Joshua Foster and Anthony Foster, all of North Pole, Alaska, and Melinda Collister of Saylorsburg; mother-in-law, Marie (Achey) Turtzo of Spout Spring, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
