Robert E. Seiler, 48, of Saylorsburg, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. He was the husband of Geraldine Kok Seiler of Singapore.
Born on May 13, 1957, in Passaic, N.J., he was the son of Elmer and Dorothy Konkle Seiler of Saylorsburg.
He was a 1975 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville and a resident of Saylorsburg for 44 years.
He was proud to have served his country for over fiver years in the Army Special Forces and especially enjoyed his service at csc 1st/509th Airborne Battalion combat team in Boscomantico, Italy.
He was an ordained minister, graduating from Grand Covenant Ministries International.
He was also a licensed massage therapist in the state of New York, graduating from the Swedish Institute for Massage Therapy in New York City. He was in his last semester at the Swedish Institute for acupuncture.
He was a Shodan 1st degree black belt in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu and is founder and sensei of Danzan Ryu in New York City. He was also a brown belt in judo.
He was a "thru hiker," having hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, swimming and skiing. For a time he was a member of the United States Trotting Association, being licensed as a harness horse trainer/driver.
In addition to his wife, Geraldine, and his parents, Elmer and Dorothy, he is survived by a son, Philip; two daughters, Eve and Rachel, of Saylorsburg; a sister, Kristine Fenstermacher and her husband, Eric, of Saylorsburg; former wife, Janice Seiler; and aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, nephews and a great-niece.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, with the Rev. David Felker officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
