Robert V. Wilson, 87, of Plainfield Township, died Thursday, June 9, at his residence. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Baker) Wilson. They were married 65 years this past April.
Born in Pen Argyl, on Jan. 22, 1918, he was the son of the late Albert and Rose Counterman (Wilson Davis).
Retiring in 1978, he was employed as a quality control director at Lehigh Foundries/Victaulic Forks Township. Prior to that, he worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp., former Pen Argyl Grove, and former Julius Kayser Silk Mill in Bangor.
He was a member of United Forest Methodist Church, Silver Springs, Fla.; former member of the executive board of Raubsville Methodist Church; former board member of Delaware Valley Boy Scouts Council, Silver Beaver Award, and executive board of the Forks of the Delaware Boy Scouts of America; past president of AAA Auto Club, Hecktown Road, for 12 years; Riegelsville, F&AM, where he was a past master; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Easton; Rajah Temple, Reading; Lehigh Consistory; past grand tall cedar and past president of the Forks of the Delaware Shrine Club; supervisor of Williams Township for six years; and civil defense director and member of Williams Township Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Richard V. and his wife, Judy Wilson, of Brownsville, Texas; grandsons, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Robert V. II, and Ryan; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Robert L. Wilson, in 2002
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 200 S. Robinson Ave., Pen Argyl. Interment will be in Wind Gap Cemetery, Plainfield Township.
