DANZIG, 86

HAINES CITY - Mr. Bernard Louis "Bernie" Danzig, age 86, of Haines City passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Edgewood, FL due to respiratory failure.
He was born October 5, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY. He was an Attendance Teacher for the City of New York Board of Education. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII serving as an Airplane Ball Turret Gunner and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, member of VFW Post 7361 of Fedhaven, 14th Air Force Association, China-Burma-India Veterans Association, United Federation of Teachers in New York City and served on the Political Action Committee, and former volunteer for the American Red Cross and worked 25 national disasters. He was affiliated with Beth Shalom Reformed Temple of Winter Haven.
Mr. Danzig was preceded in death by his son Warren Danzig. He is survived by his wife Sandra L. Danzig, daughters Laura Silver, East Merrick, NY, and Shelley Epstein, Glasgow, Scottland, daughter Wendy Henderson, Lake Wales, FL, son Neil Danzig, Brooklyn, NY, son John Parker, Lakeland, FL, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 12:30 pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Arrangements by Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made, in Bernie's name, to the charity of choice.
