Robert Krejci Obituary

Bob Krejci, 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on December 12, 2011.
Bob was born June 4, 1913, in Chicago and had a distinguished career as a consultant and fund raising counselor for non-profit, community service organizations. He and his late wife, Marian, were among the early residents of Rancho Bernardo, purchasing their home in 1968.
At an early age, Bob took on the responsibility of caring for his mother and sister. A keen student, he attended Michigan State University where he graduated with honors in 1941. Upon graduation, he married his beloved wife, Marian, and began a forty-five year romance. Marian passed away in 1986.
Bob joined a local Boy Scouts troop as young boy in Chicago. It was a relationship that would last for much of his lifetime. He became an Eagle Scout in high school and a Scout Master and Hike Master during college. As a professional, he served as a Scout Executive for Councils in Chicago, Southern Illinois and West Virginia. Bob retired from Scouting in 1965 and joined the Cumerford Corporation as a professional fund-raiser and public relations consultant for not-for-profit groups.
In later years, Bob was co-organizer of San Diego North County Philanthropy Council and established "Wordsmiths" for people who were interested in creative writing. A Rotarian since 1950, he was an active member of the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo and instrumental in building the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Charitable Foundation.
Bob leaves his daughter, Susan Stevens of Pinehurst, NC; grandson's, David of San Rafael, CA, Craig of Superior, CO, and Brian of New Milford, CT; three great- grandchildren; and his friend and caretaker, Debbie Duncan.

Bob was a thoughtful, kind, and funny man who made a wonderful difference in his community. I am honored to have known him in his later years, where he was a regular participant in North County Philanthropy Council activities.
