Wilma Fitzsenry Obituary

Wilma Fitzsenry, aka "Bim" and "GG", passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the age of 85. "Bim", as she was known to family and friends, was born April 9, 1926, in Robesonia, PA, to the late William and Mae Dietrich of Stouchburg, PA. Bim has followed her sisters, Prudence Rhodes of VA and Gail Harnish of Myerstown, PA, seeking eternal life with her Heavenly Father and family.
Wilma eventually settled in North San Diego County in the 1970s with her husband of 40 years, Kenneth Fitzsenry, who preceded her in death in 1986.
Bim was a fighter and a cancer survivor including breast, colon and thyroid cancers. Having the support of a strong faith and love of life and family, she finally succumbed to a massive coronary. Her love of family and friends, who were spread throughout the United States, fueled her passion for traveling, often to the East Coast.
She is survived by her daughter, Luann Fontenot-Cottrell of Poway; son, James Fitzsenry of Mira Mesa; and step-daughter, Barbara (Glorit) Fitzsenry of Seattle, WA. Also surviving her rich legacy of life are four grandsons, James Fontenot of Poway, Thomas Fontenot of Scripps Ranch and Steven and Paul Glorit of Seattle, WA. She was later given the awesome title "GG" (Great Grandma) to two beautiful children, Trevor and Hailey Fontenot of Poway who are cared for by their loving mother, Callie Fontenot. Finally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the United States. A rich legacy she was grateful for and treasured each day.
Wilma chose to donate her body to the University of California for medical science. Her ashes will be buried at Sea. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be sent to your choice of cancer charities or Heart Fund.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and may the perpetual light shine upon her.
Finally, her family wants to extend appreciation to all the paramedics who responded, Aaron of the San Diego Sheriff's Department and to Kathy of T.I.P.'s for helping the family by their quick response, compassion, caring attention and assistance.

We have many fond memories of Bim, including our mother Betty who lived with Bim in San Francisco in the late 40's while their husbands were at sea. I remember especially her great laugh and her courage while dealing with cancer. Rest well. Love from the Quinlivan, Parham and Bowman families
