Dale Davis Obituary

Dale E. Davis passed on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Born on September 4, 1927 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to R. Lyle and Florence E. (Lary) Davis, he is survived by his children: Kathleen (Stu), Carol, Karen (Steven) and Kevin; six grandchildren (Traci, Stacy, Kristyn, Lance, Luke and Thomas); eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Joan; his son-in-law, Bill, and grandson, Jeffrey.

Dale was many things over his long life: Navy pilot, TWA captain, boater, actor, gun enthusiast, reader, photographer and, as he would say, "Vast repository of useless knowledge." Many will also remember him singing little ditties, whistling complex tunes and cutting quick dance steps.

Most of all, he was a storyteller. Dale was loved by family and friends and he will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life in Christ Church, 507 W. Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, Florida. All are invited to stay for the reception that follows.

In lieu of flowers, you can donate in his name to the charitable organization of your choice.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Alan Hodgson Capt. (TWA Ret.)

September 9, 2025

We became pals in the good old B707 days. Dale, always an officer, a gentleman, and a fine Captain. Loved how he always asked permission and piped himself aboard! Delightful to see his face at work and other events. Heartfelt sympathy to Dale's family.
Fond memories, Capt. Alan & Brenda Hodgson.
