I found this sad news as I was going to wish Gene a Happy Birthday. He and I roomed together for a year when we were both students at Pomfret School. We hadn´t been in touch for many years, but were trying to reconnect when he came through Philadelphia several times, but were never quite able to. Godspeed Gene! Rest in peace my friend.

He was always cherished and loved by us, especially Madi. She was always so happy when we saw and called him. We love you, Grandpa.

Almost 24 years ago, I met Eugene. One of the best first dates of my lifetime. He was always loving, effusive, and passionate. He always loved his boys and adored his granddaughters (and my nieces). Of course, he had struggles. I am thankful that he returned to the sea and boating. As the years progressed, our contact decreased. We spoke earlier this year, it was as if no time had passed, he was loving and positive as always. He always made me feel loved and beautiful, which is quite a skill! I will miss "my Eugene".
