Mark Hoffman Obituary

Mark Hoffman, a renowned civil engineer and co-founder of THP Limited, a leading structural and architectural engineering design firm in Cincinnati, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025. He was 80 years old.

Mark studied engineering at the University of Cincinnati, and earned a Master's Degree from Penn State. He returned to Cincinnati to raise his family and co-founded THP. As Principal Partner, he helped grow the firm into a highly respected company with an impressive portfolio of iconic buildings in Cincinnati and across the country.

Mark was deeply devoted to his friends, family, and animals, and is remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his zest for life and daredevil spirit. An intrepid motorcyclist, Mark found great joy in his biannual trips to "brave the twisties" of the Blue Ridge Parkway. He also treasured his regular golf excursions to Scotland and Ireland.

More than anything Mark loved being on the water and was an avid fisherman and scuba diver. He cherished the years he spent in Florida and was continually awed by the wildlife around his home in Punta Gorda.

Mark was preceded in death by his first wife, Ginny, mother to his children and a well-known actress with the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, who passed away in 1993. He later married Beth Hoffman, a New York Times bestselling author from Newport, Kentucky.

Mark is survived by his sister, Ann Harty; his son, Gus Hoffman, a technology executive at Microsoft; his daughter-in-law Heather Hoffman; his daughter, Maggie Hoffman, an actress; and a beloved grandson.

A private family service will be held. The family asks that any donations in Mark's memory be made to Peace River Wildlife Center or The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.
