Alex J. Kazlauski Jr.

ALEX J. KAZLAUSKI, JR. Valparaiso, In Age 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep in his home on Tuesday, June 7, 2005. Alex owned and operated the Vale City Meat Packing Company on Highway 30 for 35-years and retired after many more years as owner of the Furniture Outlet Store, his second career. Born in Gary, IN and raised in Hobart, the eldest child of Lithuanian parents, Alex and Eva. He has two surviving brothers: Dr. Albert Kazwell of Crown Point, IN and Stanley Kazwell of Port Charlotte, FL; one sister: Mary Ann Lunderwall also residing in Port Charlotte. Al married Selma Meska upon leaving the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He is survived by Selma, his loving wife of 61 years; daughter: Sally Kent of Louisville, KY; son: Stanley (Barbara) Kazlauski; youngest daughter: Linda (Don) Turner; five loving grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren, all residing in Valparaiso. Alex was preceded in death by his beloved son, Butch (Alex) taken long before his time; his parents, Alex and Eva; and most of his best friends including his lifelong buddy, his cousin, Joe. Al had formerly been a member of the Elks, Moose and Knights of Columbus and years ago also sponsored the Vale City Packers Baseball Team. He enjoyed boxing, harness racing, a good poker game, telling jokes and stories, Indiana Basketball and Football, his friends and neighbors, his great grandchildren, and his faithful dog, Cocoa. Funeral services Saturday, June 11, 2005 from Dykes Funeral Home, 10:30 a.m. for 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, Rev. Robert Naglich SCJ, Presider, Monsignor John J. Charlebois, concelebrant. Burial St. Paul Cemetery, Valparaiso.
