BROOKS DONNELL
Born in Evansville, IN August 9 1947, Brooks relocated to Gary and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1966. He retired from LTV Steel with over 30 years of service and from NIPSCO after 27 years of active service. Brooks was a proud member of the United Steelworkers of America. In 1968 he married Patricia Magee and their union yielded two beautiful daughters. Brooks departed this life on Saturday, February 13, 2010. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Donnell, Jr.; father, Fred Brooks Donnell; his loving mother, Seronia Jones; his caring sister, Estella Corin Jones; his stepfather, Samuel Jones; and precious niece, Melonie Douglas. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his daughters, Tonya (Bernard) Boston of Memphis, TN and Chandra Donnell of Dallas, TX; and their mother, Patricia Donnell of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Bria Boston, Tyler Boston and Sydney Boston, all of Memphis, TN; two sisters, Cecelia Jones and Jennifer Jones, both of Gary, Indiana; sister-in-law, Rosena Donnell of Jackson, TN; nieces, Lillian Jones, Tamara Jones and Crystal (Arnold) Turner; nephews, Martelus Jones, Frank Poole III, Antoine Jones, John Jones, Joshua Jones, Jermaine Jones; and a host of other close family and friends. Services are scheduled Saturday, February 20th at Smith Bizzell & Warner Funeral Home, 4209 Grant Street, Gary, IN at 12 p.m. Visitation is Saturday, February 20th, 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. www.smithbizzellwarnerfuneralhome.com.

So sorry to learn of the passing of one of our classmates. Though I didn't know Donnell that well personally, he was a member of our RHS '66 graduating class and therefore is forever a member of our "Family". My deepest sympathy to his entire family.

I first met Brooks well over thirty years ago. Brooks made everyday at NIPSCO, that I worked with him a memorable experience. He along with Joe Holly, Wellington Rodgers and so many others will never be forgotten.
