I just heard about this terrible loss today and thought I could share a fond memory of one of my very good friends. We were practicing for the 4x100 relay during track practice and Ray Manista and Chris usually ran the final two legs of the relay. We used a blind exchange where the advancing runner would call out "book" and "reach" to hand over the baton. During this exchange, Chris took off so quickly, Ray couldn't catch him and decided to throw the baton. Ray yelled "reach," and Chris put his hand back. The timing was perfect and Chris caught the baton. He didn't know what happened until he ran through the finish line. We don't always know God's purpose, but His timing is perfect. Chris is now at the finish line and waits for the rest of us. Until then, please know that Chris had a lot of friends who loved him and will pray with you as we mourn his loss together.
