Fern Louise Walters

FERN LOUISE WALTERS (nee WALLACE) Fontana, Kansas Formerly Northwest, Indiana Fern Louise (Wallace) Walters age 79, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. Fern was born November 13th, 1928 in Valparaiso, Indiana, the daughter of Howard and Hazel Wallace. She graduated from Boone Grove High School in 1947. In 1947, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles Joseph Walters. They shared over fifty-five years of marriage before Charles passed away on December 16, 2002. To this union they shared five children. She enjoyed cooking and spent many years employed as a cook at Valparaiso University, The Wise Owl Caf, and other local establishments. Fern and Charles later purchased and operated The Fontana Bar and Grill. She is survived by five children; Chuck Walters and his wife Patti of Valparaiso, IN, Donny Walters and his wife Eileen of Union Mills, IN, Bob Walters and his wife Rhonda of Valpariso, IN, Ron Walters and his wife Annette of Wanatah, IN; and devoted daughter, Mary Callaway of Fontana, Kansas; three brothers, Chet Wallace and his wife Bonnie, Dennis Wallace and his wife Anita and Larry Wallace and his wife Carol; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Fern was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles; four siblings; Betty Rittle and Alvin, Paul and Ricky Wallace; one grandson, Nick Walters. A private funeral will be held by Wilson's Funeral Home in Wellsville, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging in Ottawa, Kansas and sent in care of Wilson's Funeral Home, 607 Main, Wellsville, Kansas 66092.
