Frank Gilbert Obituary

FRANK DELANO GILBERT SR. Nov. 19, 1933-Oct. 21, 2004 After a long illness, he passed away peacefully at his home in Fountain Valley, California. A long-time resident in Northwest Indiana, Frank was an Army veteran who worked in supervision at Inland Steel, Heckett Engineering and in heavy equipment with the Midwest Operating Engineers, Local 150. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wanda; daughter and son-in-law, C. Sue and Tim Brown; daughter-in-law, Kim; grandchildren, David, Christine, Emily, Nicole, Katie, Samuel; brother, Millard Gilbert; sister, Gladys Knapp; sisters-in-law, Doris and Mildred Gilbert; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Portage firefighter, Frank "Lane" Gilbert Jr. in 1997. The family takes great solace in knowing that father and son are reunited in their heavenly home. May we be worthy of joyously joining them as God wills. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, 6 to 8 p.m. at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave. Highland. On Thursday, October 28, 2004, visitation will resume at 9 a.m. with a funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 305 E. 6th St., Hobart. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City of Portage Park Dept., 2100 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, IN 46368. Please make memo to indicate the "Frank Gilbert Jr. Memorial Park Fund".
