BARKOWSKI
Henry Barkowski, age 93, of Hessville, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Community Hospital in Munster. He is survived by two sons David (Sandra) Barkowski of Demotte and Eugene Barkowski of Hessville. One Daughter Pamela (Randy) Swix of Owosso, MI. Seven Grandchildren, Ten Great-Grandchildren and One Great-Great-Grandchild. Sister Virginia Imbiorski of Michigan City. Numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Helen J. Barkowski, parents; Frank and Pauline Barkowski, Two brothers; Clement and Donald Barkowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church 6605 Kentucky Avenue, Hessville with Father Larry Kew Celebrant. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at St. Catherine of Siena from 9: 00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Knights of Columbus St. Alfreds Council will offer prayers at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. Henry was a lifetime resident of the Calumet region. A faithful Parishioner of St Catherine of Siena Church having served as an Usher and was active in the Golden Gems. He is a member and served on the Board of Directors of Knights of Columbus St. Alfred Council #4933. Henry was retired from Inland Steel with 43 years of service and was a member of the 25 year club. Henry was one of those people you looked forward to seeing at Mass each Sunday. He had a ready smile and a tid bid of news for everyone.
He's probably up in heaven now trying to set up a reunion with Walter and Joe.

Henry will surely be missed, we gently called him King Henry he was always such a good person who dearly loved his family. I will miss bringing him his Sunday's paper to read.
