Jane Sakelaris Obituary

JANE SAKELARIS Merrillville, Indiana Age 89, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006, at Towne Centre in Merrillville. She was born in Kawanee, IL. A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, she was always happy to service her family. Her family was her life. She was employed at ANCO for 40 years. She is survived by her sons: Perry (Joyce) Sakelaris, of El Paso, TX, Chris (Yvonne) Sakelaris, of Centerville, OH; grandchildren include: John (Rebecca), Tony (Laura), Kristy and Sally Sakalaris; sister: Sophie Leonakis; brother: Mike (Evelyn) Leonakis and family; sister-in-law, Phyllis, of South Bend, IN. Preceded in death by her husband, John Sakelaris, brother, Otto Leonakis, parents, George and Christine Leonakis. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. Directly at SS. Helen and Constantine Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison, Merrillville, IN, with Rev. Theodore Poteres and Rev. Evagoras Constantinides officiating. Burial at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft St. (2 blocks south of cemetery). A Trisagion prayer service will be offered at 7:00 p.m. Jane was a loyal member of SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Merrillville, IN. She was a great homemaker, an awesome baker and a very giving person. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harbor Light Hospice, 500 Lincoln Hwy., Merrillville, IN 46410. May her memory be eternal.

although I didn't know Jane, the quality of a mother or a father is often measured in the quality of their children; and I have never met a better person than Chris Sakelaris. My thoughts and prayers are with your whole family; may Jane rest in peace eternal.
