Jesse Mack

1924 - 2021

Jesse Mack was born on September 20,1924 in Crystal Springs, MS to the union of the late Charlie Mack and Mary Newsom-Mack, one of five children born to this union. He was a resident of Merrillville, Indiana, and business owner in Gary, IN for over 50 years. His business ventures were Mack's Used Furniture & Appliances, Chef in Mississippi & Illinois, J.P. Sea Burg Music Boxes, Chef for Mickleberry Restaurant, (Evergreen Park); He was preceded in death by his siblings Joseph Mack, Artis Murray, Annie Johnson and Louvenia Mack . Jesse exchanged time for eternity August 22, 2021. He lived a very rewarding life enjoying talks with family and friends. He enjoyed hanging out with the retired guys at McDonald's Restaurant, loved NBA Basketball, playing dominoes, cooking and motivating children about their future. Mack was the "Refrigerator Man" and there was not a refrigerator or stove that he could not fix. Jesse Mack will be deeply missed by his wife Valerie Bryant Mack and sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and five generations of children, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation Friday, September 3, 2021 from 12 to 8:00 p.m. Family Hours 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Gary, IN; Funeral services Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Progressive Cathedral International, 1169 Connecticut St. Gary, IN. Bishop Norman J. Hairston II, Pastor. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
