KIM GERBER Obituary

KIM LORRAINE GERBER
(nee Lewis)

Age 50, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 peacefuly with her husband (of 31 years) Glenn Michael Gerber, and 2 sons, Lynard Michael (Megan) Gerber and daughter Madison, and Martin Eugene (Stephanie) Gerber and children Ryland and Cadence by her side. Kim was born on February 27, 1960 in East Chicago, IN to the late Phyllis Lorraine Cable (nee Woodburn) and Ernest (Tina) Lewis of Valparaiso, IN. Also surviving are her siblings, Scott (Diana) Lewis, Jill Lewis (Darko) Plavsa, James Cable and Emily Lewis. Kim was also a beloved aunt and great-aunt to several nieces and nephews. Kim worked for Bylthe's Sporting Goods in Valparaiso for several years before fulfilling her dream of being a barefooted waitress on Coki Beech and the Banana Cabana in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Kim was a person who touched many peoples lives. She is a firm believer in our Lord Jesus Christ. She was honorable queen of the Jobs Daughters in 1976 out of the Masonic Temple in Griffith, IN. Kim is also mentioned in the book of Who's Who In Sports. Kim was a determined woman who accomplished all tasks and goals she set for herself. Kim was blessed to live her dream in St. Thomas for nearly two years with her beloved husband of 31 years. Kim loved and was loved very much by her whole family and hundreds of friends. Before leaving for St. Thomas, Kim's favorite hangout was Leroy's Hot Stuff in Porter, IN. Please join us there on Sunday, August 1st at 3:00 p.m. for a celebration of Kim's life. All who knew her are welcome to attend. Leroy's Hot Stuff, 333 W. U.S. Highway 20, Porter, IN. A quote from Kim, "A stranger is only a friend you have not met yet."
