Lawrence Maclin

1938 - 2021

Lawrence Maclin, age 83, passed away on September 1, 2021. He was born May 8, 1938. He was the ninth of thirteen children born to the late Nathaniel H. Maclin Sr. (parents; Harvey Maclin/Laura Collier) and Gustava B. Whitmore-Maclin (parents; Allen B. Harris/Amanda Whitmore) in Mason, TN. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age while attending Greenleaf Presbyterian Church. Lawrence graduated from Gailor Industrial High School in Mason, TN in 1956. He was drafted into the US Army at the beginning of the Vietnam War, where he served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1963. On December 19, 1961, Lawrence joined Jessie B. Hodge-Mason in holy matrimony. They were together until death they did part, and raised four children together. He was employed at Union Tank Car Company where he retired.

He is survived by children: James Lawrence Mitchell (Mary) of Georgia, Darryl K. Maclin ( Raquel) of Denver, CO; Cassandra Boyd (Nicholas) of Englewood, OH; and Lawrence A. Jr. (Ivetta) of Virginia Beach. Grandchildren: Michael P. Dix (Chastity), Keith A. Boyd Jr. "Kato", Caresse A. Boyd, Kristopher L. Maclin, Jessica L. Maclin, Jennifer A. Maclin, Indya M. Maclin, Jaron C. Maclin, Lawrence A. Maclin III, and so many more in love; and great grandchild: Mya J. Dix.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Jessie B. Maclin (maiden name Mason), his son Arnold Maclin, and brothers: Nathaniel, RB, JC, Charles, and Theoplis, and sisters: Patricia, Viessa, and Adrene. Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 10, 2021, 11:00 A.M., at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel (7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN). Elder Nichols officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. For information call, 219-736-5840
