Samuel Wyatt Obituary

SAMUEL WYATT Mr. Samuel Wyatt passed away at his home in Gary, Indiana on Thursday, November 11, 2004. A native of Gary, Mr. Wyatt was retired from U. S. Steel. He was a devoted member of Galilee Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board. He also served his country in World War II while on active duty in the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Pearl Wyatt. Mr. Wyatt was a wonderful father and grandfather who was devoted to his family. He was the father of two sons, one of whom, Robert Wyatt, preceded him in death. Mr. Wyatt is survived by his older son, Samuel (Thelma) Wyatt, five grandchildren, Patrick Wyatt, Pamela Wyatt, Mark Wyatt, Toya (Roderick) Clemmens, and Channel (Lawrence) Wright. He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Wyatt. His other two sisters, Anna Mae Rogers and Vivian Parker preceded him in death. His two brothers, Charles Wyatt and Alfred Wyatt preceded him as well. In addition, Mr. Wyatt leaves behind four nieces, Kia Wyatt, Rochelle Wyatt, Mya (Jesse) Williams, and Gloria (Frank) Velez. He also has six nephews, Alfred Wyatt, Keenan Wyatt, Ernie Wyatt, Michael Wyatt, Donald Parker, and Ralph Parker; and a host of great grandchildren. There are many other special relatives and dear friends who also loved him and mourn his passing. Mr. Wyatt was a bright, energetic man who was faithful to his church, his family, and his community. He was known by his many friends as a man who kept his word, a man who was always concerned about others, and a man who never hesitated to offer his help. He also strongly believed in the value of education, as evidenced by his son and grandchildren. Mr. Wyatt is sorely missed by his family, church members, and his many friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Galilee Baptist Church in Gary. Viewing will be held just prior to the Funeral Service from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Smith, Bizzell and Warner Mortuary is handling the arrangements. Condolences to the Wyatt Family. I shall always remember Mr. Wyatt as such a kind man and faithful churchgoer. He and I always sat in the same pew at church for so many years. Life is so short and precious, as I just saw him a few weeks ago.
