Thurman Morgan Obituary

THURMAN EZELL MORGAN, JR. Gary, Indiana Thurman Ezell Morgan, was called home Wednesday, March 8, 2006. Thurman was born to Berthetta Morgan and Thurman Morgan, Sr. on June 8, 1975 in Chicago, IL. He attended Bass Elementary School and graduated from Paul Robeson High in Chicago, IL. He loves playing the piano and drums. He was baptized at an early age and grew up in the church. He also attended Ivy Tech Community College. He belonged to William Taylor Lodge No. 1 AF & AM of Gary, IN. Thurman was a dedicated father and loving husband to his wife and four children. He was also a substitute father to his sisters and any child in his life. Thurman enjoyed traveling with his wife for quality time and also spending time with his children trying to teach and show his family a better life. Thurman was loved by many and was a dedicated friend worthy of his kindness. During Brother Morgan's Masonic travels, he was made a Master Mason and served as both the Junior Warden and Patron of William Taylor Lodge No. 1, and the Right Worshipful Grand Junior Warden of Most Worshipful St. Mark Grand Lodge. Our beloved Brother was so obligated as an Eastern Star under the adopted Rite of Oprah Chapter Order of Eastern Star. These are in addition to the numerous committees and assignments that the faithfully and admirably served with distinction until his final reward to glory. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Verda Morgan, his maternal grandfather, Billy Sutton, and other aunts and uncles. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Kennitha Morgan; four children: Deja', Ashley, Arq'eil, and Tannitha Morgan of Gary, IN; parents, Berthetta Morgan of Gary, IN and Thurman, Sr. (Valeria) Morgan of Chicago, IL; mother-in-law, Chuantani (John) Harris of Gary, IN and father-in-law, Kenneth Dixon of Memphis, TN; and a host of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends, and lodge members. Services will be held at Peter's Rock Baptist Church, 1725 E. 21st Avenue, Gary, IN at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2006 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Smith, Bizzell & Warner Funeral Home, 4209 Grant St., Gary, IN. Family hours 6-8 p.m.

To Thurman Wife and to His mother,

You both know my sorry in hearing about the death of what I considered my son, and my Nephew for he has been in my life, home and heart for over twenty years. I will miss thurman so much that words cannot express my pain. James and myself has felt every bit of pain as you both have because he and Thurman have been brother's of soul since ten. God bless and keep you his daugter and family. I will forever miss him because he was my son in heart also. I did write a poem for how much I will miss him it is dedicated to you.

Heartache, have you no boundaries as you travel the regions of my heart,

without miss to torch my spirit into submission,

Have you no forgiveness.

Your agony as you lay heavy on my mind, lying on tears that try to find its release to let you go,

Why do you beat me down to step on my soul?

No release, you say, I'm here to stay,

With somber inwards and pain filled outlook,

you give no comfort in remises,

No happiness in gestures, only a weary mind.

Have you no forgiveness to let go of me, as you take the my heart, my soul and Love away from me.

Please find pity on the others whom heart you seek to break.

Our family gatherings will never be the same. We can feel blessed that we had the opportunity to say that he was a member of our family. Thank you to Berthetta and Thurman Sr. for sharing him.
