William Banister Obituary

WILLIAM I. BANISTER Knox, Indiana formerly East Chicago, Indiana Age 84, passed away Friday, August 4, 2006, at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Bill was a wonderful loving husand, father and grandfather and will be missed by many. He was a retired electrician with IBEW Local No. 697, a veteran of World War II, US Army/Army Air Corp., a 32rd Degree Mason, and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by two sons, Frank "Donnie" and William Banister; grandson, Joshua Banister; two sisters, Edith and Wilma. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth (nee Orr) Banister of Knox; daughter, Cyndi (Jim) Wilson of Frisco, CO; son, Alan (Lynda) Banister of Crown Point; grandchildren: Scott Wilson of CA, Jeff (Heidi) Wilson of Frisco, CO, Kassie Banister of Chicago, Kara Banister of NY, Jennifer Banister, Frank Banister, Amanda Banister and Elizabeth, all of AZ, Brenna Banister, Brandon Banister and Ryan Banister, all of Crown Point; numerous great grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (Paul) Cole of Monterrey, IN and Dorothy (George) Barney of Hammond; daughter-in-law, Kathy Banister of Highland; numerous sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services Monday, August 7, 2006, 12:00 noon at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, with Rev. John Starr officiating. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends may visit with the family at the Burns Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Phone: (219) 769-0044.
