Adam Tilkens Obituary
Adam Tilkens, 31, of Appleton, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, as the result of a work accident.
Adam was born December 5, 1981, in Green Bay, the son of Annette Schmitz Wilkinson, Appleton, and Bruce Tilkens, DePere. He was a graduate of Marinette High School and attended college prior to moving to Grand Chute in 2004 with his high school sweetheart Sara Peterson. They were married June 1, 2007 in Jamaica. Adam was employed with Advance Construction of Green Bay.
Adam's biggest passion in his life was spending time with his two daughters, Ella and Ava and wife Sara. He also had a strong passion for golf and was a very gifted player. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and the outdoors. He became very skilled in mechanics and renovations through self teaching and his desire to learn. He was the first to help any friend in need.
Survivors include Sara, Ella and Ava; his parents, Annette Schmitz Wilkinson and Bruce (Sue) Tilkens; maternal grandparents, Mae and Eugene Schmitz, and paternal grandmother, Geri Tilkens, all of Green Bay; two brothers: Nick Konyn, Green Bay, and Derek Tilkens, DePere; a sister, Kendall Tilkens, DePere; his mother and father-in-law, Muriel and Tom Peterson, Marinette; two sisters-in-law: Sherri (Larry) Peterson and Heather (Hank) Reines, all of Marinette; a brother-in-law, Paul Peterson, Stephenson, MI; and two Godchildren, Braxton Polzin and Emma Williams. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clayton Tilkens. He is further survived by many very close friends.
The family would like to thank everyone who sent many prayers, meals, friendship and support during this difficult time.
A memorial service for Adam will be Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at Valley Funeral Home, with Rev. Darin Aden officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Adam's honor is being established for his daughters.

To my BELOVED son, Adam. I hope you know and can see from above, how much I loved and cherished you, from the moment you were born to the moment you left this Earth. I was with you when you took your first breath and also your last.
I loved watching you as a toddler, slamming wiffle balls far beyond what even I could do! Then t-ball, little league, on up to men's. I have fond memories of watching you annihilate your opponents in football, and excel at every sport including golf, that you ever tried. I was so proud of all your accomplishments as a child and a man, and I want you to know that I took great pride when - at your funeral- Paul's stepdad came up to me and said "You raised one hell of a nice guy". For raising you ALONE was extremely difficult. I knew, more than most, the pain you carried in your heart growing up with just a mom... I tried to be mom and dad to you to fill that vacant spot. And while I cannot take away the pain you felt, know that I was very proud of you in the end, and I knew you had turned out to be the best that you could be. You had so many friends who loved you, you were a good husband, and you were a fabulous father to your beautiful little girls. The testament of how everyone still loves you and the things they do in your name, even now, makes me swell with pride. I just wish you were here so I could pat you on the back one last time. I know you are doing well in Heaven and I know I will see you again someday. Until then - all my love.
