Opperman, Anton "Tony" F.

Anton "Tony" F. Opperman, born November 4, 1937, in Winneconne, Wisconsin, to Anton R. and Emma (Scharf) Opperman, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in Hobe Sound, Florida.

Tony graduated from Winneconne High School in 1957 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served for 10 years. He was an electrician by trade and worked many years before retiring from Kimberly-Clark. Tony also owned and operated "Tony's Tap" in Redgranite, Wisconsin. He was a huge Green Bay Packer fan and always wore Packer attire. He loved the Packers just like his family.

In October of 1995 Tony Married Shirley Patri and they moved to Florida in 1996. He was an active member of the VFW Post 10132 in Hobe Sound, Florida and became Quartermaster in 2006 until April of this year when health forced him to give up the position.

Tony is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Cindy (Kirk) Gruetzmacher; son, Anton (Maria) Opperman; grandchildren, Kevin and Steven Gruetzmacher, Lauren and Anton Opperman; stepchildren, Rob (Leane) Pfaffenroth, Randy Pfaffenroth, Nancy (Dick) Sharratt; brother, Floyd (Betty) Opperman; and sister, Doraine Hale.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Jane Opperman; stepsons, Ricky and Jerry Pfaffenroth; brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Olga Opperman; and brother-in-law, Glenn Hale.

A Military Service will be held at the VFW Post 10132 in Hobe Sound, Florida on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bear Lake Resort in Manawa, Wisconsin on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. Tony will be buried at the Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery, King, Wisconsin, following those services.
