Claire Gallant Obituary
Menasha - Claire Marie Gallant, age 65, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully Tuesday, May 8, 2018 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born July 16, 1952 in Appleton to the late Clifford and Helen (Kirchner) Meyer. Claire graduated from Appleton East High School in 1970.
Claire married the love of her life Gary Gallant on August 7, 1976 and lovingly celebrated 41 years of marriage.
Claire was a proud alumni of the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and worked as a Physical Education teacher in the Brainerd, MN and Oshkosh, WI public school districts. After the birth of her third child, Claire chose to stay home and raise her children. In doing so, Claire found her true life's passion of caring for others. For many, Claire provided a home away from home, where she positively impacted the lives of many children and families over her 30 years of child care.
Claire was a passionate and involved member of the Menasha community. She was an active member of Saint Timothy's Lutheran Church in Menasha, a founding member of the Menasha Wrestling Club and former President of the organization. Claire most recently enjoyed caring for Menasha's children as an elementary school para-pro and lunch room supervisor and involved herself in many other community activities. Claire had a deep passion for photography, which she used to capture and share achievements and key moments in everyone's lives, from sporting events, to high school photos and moments with loved ones at the family cottage she so dearly loved.
Claire is survived by her husband Gary Gallant; children: Brent (Diala), Nikkohl, Drew (Ashley) and Kirk Gallant; grandchildren: Estela, Sofia, Hunter and Carson Gallant; sister: Nancy (Bob) Wittman; brother: Ron (Diane) Meyer, sister-in-law Tamara England and hundreds of family and friends
The funeral service for Claire will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME- DOWNTOWN, 537 N Superior St. Appleton, with Pastor David Skarsten officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be established.

My deepest sympathies to your family. I had the pleasure of knowing Claire thanks to all the wonderful pictures she took. I was one of the lucky people who printed those 1000's of photos she took over the years. I will miss the hours of conversation as she sat there making them "just right". We talked about everything from our children, her grandchildren, her many trips and yes, of course, the Wrestling Club. She was an amazing woman and I will truly miss her. Thank you for sharing her with me for the last ten years that I've been working at Menasha Walgreens.

Our sympathies go out to the entire family, Claire was one amazing strong women. Our family has known her since when the boys were all at Clovis Grove School. The boys all played soccer together and I worked with Claire in the Menasha School District as well. We have shared many fun times together and always looked forward to her Christmas/card letter. May you all cherish the special memories you have and know that Claire is loved and at peace, watching over you from above.

Gary, Brent , Kirk, Drew, Nikki & family, I am so sorry for your great loss. Claire was so full of life and knew how to live life to the fullest. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and loved each of you very much. Claire taught each of you the importance of family and life's lessons. Draw on the memories and warm fuzzy feelings. Each of you can carry on the traditions in your lives that were so important to Claire. Claire made a difference, and she will be missed. One day Claire will meet each of us at the White Pearly Gates and welcome us home with our Lord. God Bless Each of you.

I am so sorry to hear of Claire's unexpected passing. I was a childhood friend whose backyards connected. I have many fond memories of playing with Claire. Our many trips to Erb Park swimming pool,no matter the temperature. (Claire and I would try to round up friends on cold days, to get enough people so they would open the pool.) Spending time at her cottage, swimming, playing Canasta, and eating her Grandma's fabulous homemade French fries. May God bless you all with all your memories of Claire.

Claire was a caring and giving individual who loved to give of her time. I got to know Claire through wrestling with my son and she also spent some fun time taking his senior pictures. She will always be remembered with her constant smile. Prayers to the family.
