Daniel Hofacker Obituary

Daniel J. Hofacker

Mackville - Daniel J. Hofacker, age 50, of Mackville, passed away into the arms of the Lord on November 30, 2019 at his home with family by his side after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. He was deeply loved as a husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to so many. Dan was born on January 4, 1969 in Appleton, son of Paul and Mary Ellen (Stephani) Hofacker. He spent his life working on the family farm and helped many aunts and uncles on their farms. Dan graduated from Freedom High School in 1987. After high school, he worked at Madden Machine but found his passion for farming brought him back to the dairy farm he loved. He married his loving wife, Gail, on May 3, 2003. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters that he loved and adored. After his illness, he helped his brother at Hofacker's Hillside Orchard in many capacities. He lived to make others happy and was always willing to help anyone. He loved the outdoors and John Deere machinery. Dan loved to goof around and just have fun and make people laugh. Dan had many stories and loved to share them with others.

Dan is survived by his wife of 16 years, Gail and their beautiful children, Abby and Amanda, parents Paul and Mary Ellen, brothers Jeff (Laura), Greg (Jodi), sister Jenny (Andy) Stelow, father-in-law, Brian Eckberg, brother-in-law Mike (Mary) Ronsman, sister-in-law Lynn (Terry) Jerzyk. He is also survived by many Uncles, Aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and Godchildren. He was preceded in death by Grandparents, Godparents, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Mother-in-law, and a niece.

Funeral services for Dan will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2926 State Rd. 47, Appleton with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. For online condolences, please visit: www.verkuilenfh.com.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at UW Health Madison Hospital, ThedaCare at Home, and the Thedacare Hospice team for making his last hours more comfortable for him and his family. We'd also like to thank Fr. Walter and Fr. Dan for their prayers and support.

Gail and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Danny's stories were the best, especially the one about the troll who lives in the woods! My daughter really got a kick out of that story. May the wonderful memories you have of Dan help you through this difficult time. Rest In Peace buddy!
