David Horst Obituary
David John Jacob Horst, Sr., June 26, 2013, Age 85 years.
Devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born May 6,1928, in Milwaukee, son of the late Alexander and Mary (Kaiser) Horst.
Survived and loved by his wife of 60 years, Catherine (Nee Kvasnica), daughter, Jane (Scott) Meilick and son, David Jr. (Jean), grandchildren, Paul (Jenni), Scott and James Meilick and Renee (Paul) Scharine, and great-grandchildren, Isaac Scharine and Ashlynn Meilick. Also one sister, Katherine (Charlie) Borisch, brother-in-law, Carl Funk, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers, Alex and Bill Horst and sisters, Mary Cassel, Molly Yauck, Ann, Helen, and Shirley Funk.
He was a proud retiree of Operating Engineers Local 139 and worked for 46 years as a heavy equipment operator. He delighted in showing his 1958 Ford Skyline Retractable and driving it in parades, and he was a member of the nostalgic Car Club of Milwaukee. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus for their upbeat and caring treatment. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus Chapel 3800 N. 92nd St.
Visitation Saturday, June 29, at St. Anne's 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment Monday, July 1, at 9:00 a.m. at Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center 12875 W. Capitol Dr.

On behalf of myself, my husband Don and the Kirchhayn Cruisers Car Club I would like to extend our most sincere sympathy to Dave's wife and family. I can not say enough Great things about Dave . What an incredible person he was. Always friendly, never forgot a face-or a car-.Always a pleasure to visit with. He actually reminded me of my Father-both with his handsome looks and with his pleasant personality. We will miss seeing him at car events. Cruise on my friend. God Bless...

Dave was a great friend I met him over 18 years ago while i was living in milwaukee i was attending a car show and i was in awe of his skyliner to the point that i had to buy one myself, he helped me contact a person that had his first retractable a 1959 that he restored after retirement. I bought it and i still have it., Dave and Katie also drove my wife and I around for our wedding. he was a great friend and will be dearly missed. Jeff Hron
