Elizabeth Hurst Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Hurst

Appleton - Elizabeth J. "Betty" Hurst, 72, passed away at home surrounded by her family. Betty was born on December 12, 1948 to Eugene and Germaine (Hinkens) Weyenberg. She was united in marriage to Gary Hurst on October 10, 1969.

Betty was the bravest, strongest, least complaining, most optimistic person that many of us have been blessed to know. She is so dearly missed, but a part of her will always be with us in our hearts and memories. She would not want us to wallow in sorrow, but to keep our chins up and remember the important things in life.

Betty is survived by her husband Gary, her daughter Tara (Dave II) Turner, grandchildren; David III, Katherine, and Benjamin Turner, siblings; Kathy Laux, Lynn Hooyman, Mark (Barb) Weyenberg, Chris (Pete) Prast, Mary (Rick) Reetz, Paul Weyenberg, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Dan (Tweety) Hurst, Dick (Joyce) Hurst, Pam (Shorty) Watkins, Kenny B. Hurst, Jeanie (Steve) Refke, Greg (Pam) Hurst, Joan (Terry) Vanden Heuvel, Jay Hurst, Dee Dee (Todd) Bolwerk, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law; Tom Laux, and Roger Hooyman, and sisters-in-law; Cella Hurst and Cindy Hurst.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the Verkuilen Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal St. Little Chute. Online condolences may be expressed at wwww.verkuilenfh.com.

What a sweet, soft spoken lady Betty was, as well as, a special neighbor. Always loved her jams and zucchini breads she willingly shared. She will be missed! Our love and sympathy to her family.

For the whole Weyenberg family: I was so saddened when I read about Betz. I loved her so much, and had so many wonderful times with her while growing up. Take all the time you need to grieve. There is no time limit on it. Then, when you're ready, move forward and take all the fantastic memories of her with you.
