Evelyn Schmidt Obituary
Evelyn M. Schmidt, Kaukauna, age 78, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at her home. She was born May 12, 1937 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Walter and Regina (Verhagen) Swanningson. On October 17, 1957 Evie married Gerald Schmidt at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kaukauna. The couple farmed in Hollandtown and enjoyed 45 years of marriage together prior to his death on March 2, 2003. Evie was a terrific mother and grandmother and also worked as a housekeeper at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Appleton Medical Center. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown.
She is survived by 6 sons: Bernard and Janice, Fred and Kari, David and Holly, Keith and special friend Carol Vande Hey, Karl, Henry and Sabrina; 2 daughters: Lorie Wanta, Sara and Martin Juneau; 16 grandchildren: Daniel, Katie, Erin, Arianna, Brayden, Ashleigh, Jordan, Elizabeth, Jamie, Jacklyn, Travis, Cole, Benjamin, Alex, Emily and Lily; 7 great-grandchildren: 1 brother and 3 sisters-in-law: Roger and Evon Swanningson, Ann Swanningson and Carol Swanningson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; brothers: Robert and Richard; a sister and brother-in-law: Debra (Ray) Van Wychen; and 3 siblings who died at birth.
Funeral Services for Evelyn will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Francis Church, County Rd CE, Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may be call on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at which time a parish prayer service will conclude the evening. Friends may call again on Wednesday directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. 766-2099. www.boettcherfamilyfuneral.com

Fred as my classmate for 12 years, I remember your mother very well. She was my 4H instructor for knitting. She was kind and and a patient teacher. I recognized her photo right away. May her memories hold your hearts forever.

I am sending my thoughts and prayers to all of you. So sorry of the loss of you Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. I am sorry that I couldn't attend the services but know you are all in my prayers. God Bless You! When Eve and I were little we had the same doll buggy and used to take our dolls for walks. I had lots of visits with Eve on the farm but haven't seen her lately. She will forever be in my book of memories.I am sure you all remember her nickname (Snookie), just thought I would lighten your mood a tad with this. Love You

Dear Schmidt Family Members, we hold most close the memorys of our childhood, when Jerry Schmidt and his family (a car load of children) paid us a visit. Each year (it seemed) Evie was pregant, and each year another person to welcome in the "baseball game". It saddnes us that such a sweet family must face the loss of another parent. The years pass much to quickly. Our sympathy is extended to all.
