Helen June Dix (White)

Helen June Dix (White), age 96 passed away peacefully as she was constantly surrounded by family at St. Paul Home Kaukauna, WI on Dec 3rd, 2012. Helen was born on June 21, 1916 in Kimberly, WI to the late Homer and Mary Campbell White. Helen graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1933, and continued to Bowlby Business School to advance her education. Helen was married to the late Donald A. Dix on September 18, 1937.

Helen worked at many places which included: Kaukauna Machine Corporation, Thilmany's during WWII, Omar Bakery, Look's Drug Store, and Bob's Inn.

Helen especially enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren:

Helen had two children Sue Rosenthal (Navarino) and the late Bob Dix.

Helen is survived by the following grandchildren: Greg Rosenthal (Mickey) Kaukauna, WI; Kip and Nicole Rosenthal, Madison, WI; Jamie Rosenthal, Appleton WI; Rob and Monique Rosenthal, Appleton, WI; Kyle and Nina Rosenthal, Wheeling, West Virginia; Justine and Brad Knope, Shawano, WI; Ryan and Rosey Rosenthal, Bonduel WI; Shelly and Timm Schroeder, Omro, WI; and Donny Dix, Kaukauna, WI.

Helen is preceded in death by: Her husband Donald A. Dix; her son Bob Dix; her son-in-law Wilmer Rosenthal.

Helen also shared stories and memories with countless friends throughout the years of which not a single memory is forgotten. The family would like to give a special note of appreciation to: all the grandchildren who were there to help when needed; all those friends and extended family who were there to provide support in so many different ways; Phylis Weyers; Paula and Dwayne Beyer; Tommy and Donna Fink; Jenny and Denny Koerner, Manawa WI. - friends of 30 years who spent every New Year's Eve with Helen and Don, and for the countless miles Jenny put on to take care of Helen in her home, and to Pastor Melinda Feller for her prayers and thoughtfulness.

A special thank you to the superior care by all of the staff at the St. Paul Home.

Helen enjoyed many activities some of which were: Thursday and Friday Night Lady Bowling League; crossword puzzles; storytelling; socializing; hosting the yearly deer hunters; Green Bay Packers;and UW-Madison marching band.

Helen and Don made their home on 8th street in Kaukauna, which was filled with wonderful memories of neighbors and Christmas gatherings. They later moved to Navarino, WI where they built their own home on the Wolf River.

Helen welcomed a countless number of family & friends to her home. Through the amazing story telling to her grandchildren & great grandchildren, she passed a legacy that lasts forever in our minds, but rests forever in our hearts. Many called her home, "Up North", and made sure everyone knew it was "Where the coffee is always hot and the beer is always cold."

"I remember and cherish all the great times we had with Grandma. Spending weekends and summer vacations up north with her are some of my best memories. She was sweet, loving, and warm person. I will always know her that way." Love, Greg.

"We loved how Grandma made each and every one of us feel like we were her favorite. She was always welcoming and accepting of everyone. We will miss her generous and loving spirit." Love, Kip.

"Iser". We will miss the pumpkin pies she made at thanksgiving and the apple sauce she made in batches. And "Ainer"…her baking chocolate cakes and her chocolate chip cookies for special occasions when we visited during the summers. Love, Jamie, Rob, Kyle, Justine, and Ryan.

"I hope Granny's decision will help in finding a cure for Macular Degeneration and I will miss my Best Friend." Love, Shelly and Don.

Helen was a member of the United Church of Christ, Kaukauna WI.

Helen donated her body to the University of Wisconsin Madison, a decision she made to help in the pursuit to find a cure to Macular Degeneration and Arthritis. She also requested to not have a funeral service. Helen will have a private burial at a date to be set in the future. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Helen's memory has been established with the Fargo Funeral Home, Kaukauna.

The family honored Grandma's life by placing individual flowers in the Wolf River in front of her home.

Good night Dixie.

My thoughts and prayers to all of the family and friends. It was an honor and a privelage to be one of Dixie's caregivers. I will truly miss her beautiful smiles and her fun stories. I have no doubt in my mind that she is up in heaven smiling down at each one of us. I enjoyed that she would demand for a certain someone and then I would show up and she would say "I didn't think that would actually work." Thank you Dixie for always putting a smile on my face too. "Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy." Thinking of you Dixie! God Bless.
