Jane Phillips Obituary

Jane B. Phillips

Menasha - Written by Jane Phillips prior to her passing: "Jane B. Phillips (Heinz) went from this Wonderful Life to Eternal Life on December 13, 2020. She was born 3-17-1936 in Aurora, IL to George and Adelaide (Belleau) Heinz and married her high school sweetheart William Herschel Phillips, on 11-26-1955. They lived their lives as helpmates to each other until his passing on 9-20-2017. Jane loved children. Along with her 6 beloved children and her beautiful grandchildren, she enjoyed caring for numerous foster children. She also had a Day Care she called "Janey's Joyland" in her home. She organized and taught year-round Sunday School for 15 years at St. Mary's Church and then did the same at St. Patrick's Church for another 16 years. She enjoyed being involved in church activities as song leader, choir member, greeter, usher, lector, and communion distributor at both parishes. She organized the 10:30 Sunday Mass Singers from 1969 - 1978 at St. Mary's Menasha. She was proud to have served on the St. Vincent DePaul Committee of Neenah-Menasha. She appreciated life and happily enjoyed it doing little random acts of kindness for the Glory of God. She is survived by her 5 children, Cindy (David) Pheifer, Neenah; Cathy (Dean) Akavickas, Oshkosh; William/KC Phillips, Newbury Park, CA; Noel (Laura) Phillips, Batavia, IL; David Phillips, Menasha along with her beloved grandchildren Sarah Straw (Mike), Kevin Castillo, Craig (Jessica) Bergner, Scott (Angie) Bergner, Mark Bergner (Alana), Abigail, Brian, and Lucy Phillips, Melissa and Jeffrey Phillips and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband "Sweet William," her beloved daughter Cherie Phillips Castillo, big brother George M. Heinz, and sister Phyllis (Marty) Verhoven.

There will be no memorial service and she will be interred with her sweet husband William in St. Mary's Cemetery. May God's blessings be on each and every one who in any way - small or large - made me smile on my beautiful journey through God's wonderful world. Thank you much!"

I went to Janey’s Joyland and I remember it so well. I have such happy memories because of Janey! She was a wonderful caregiver and I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. I pray the family can find peace during this time.

So sorry for your family loss. I remember Jane from St. Pat's as a wonderful lady who always was kind to everyone and always had a smile on her face.

I remember Jane from the funeral choir at St. Pat's and her great voice. Her life was a great example to me of how much our dear Lord loves us all.

Jane always took time for my girls at St. Pat’s to literally “smell the flowers” and share a smile. Haven’t seen her Much over the past 10 years or so since she left St. Pat’s but appreciate the times and conversations we shared!

Jane was one of those rare and beautiful people that left everyone she met with wonderful lasting memories. She will be truly missed in this world. Rest in peace, my friend.
