Jerry Abendroth Obituary

Jerry "Jerri" Abendroth

Chilton - Jerri Abendroth passed away in her home on Sunday, July 1, 2018, surrounded by her loving family after a valiant six-year fight against cancer. She was born on October 13, 1944, daughter of the late Grant and LaPreal (Howes) Nielsen, in her beloved Marysvale, Utah. After living almost 50 years in Wisconsin, Jerry still had hints of that southern Utah accent. On December 16, 1967, Jerri married Eugene Abendroth at the Hill Air Force Base Chapel in Utah. Later they were blessed with two beautiful children.

Jerri worked in various positions in health care over a 38-year time period providing patient care to all those that needed it. She saved her best job for last when she setup an x-ray department at ThedaCare Pediatric Clinic on the north side of Appleton where she worked as a registered x-ray tech. Her interaction with the children and their parents provided great stories and great satisfaction to Jerri. Her clinic colleagues made going to work a pleasure. She received her training and registry as a radiologic technologist from the University of Utah in 1966.

Jerri was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many capacities in the ministry of the church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Chilton Post 125 providing service to veterans and the community. Jerri loved to do arts and crafts, quilting, painting, stained glass designing, traveling, fishing, putting puzzles together, playing cribbage, playing Mah Jongg, family history, just to name a few activities and most of all, loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jerri loved and lived life to the best of her abilities and found going up North to the cottage and the lake was almost like a piece of heaven.

Jerri is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Eugene Abendroth; son, E. Aaron (Jennifer); daughter, Mary (Patrick) Curran; grandchildren, Dallin, Jesslyn, Alyssa, Cade, Owen, Isaac, and Aubrielle; step-grandchildren, Ben, Josh, Caitlin, Adam, and Jake; sisters, Carma James, Joye Gulbransen, and Kaye Host; brother, Dell Nielsen; and many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jerri was preceded in death by her parents; mother- and father-in-law; brothers-in-law, Huck James, Ruleon Gulbransen, and Fred Host.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Manitowoc Ward, 4105 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, WI, from 10:00am to 11:00am, followed by a Celebration of Life and Memorial Service. Committal services will be held at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI at a future date. Online condolences wietingfuneralhome.com

The Abendroth family would like to extend a special thank you to the Ascension/Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice staff, especially Nikki, Toni, and Cliff, who took excellent care of Jerri over the past months. All of your kind words and compassion will never be forgotten.
