John F. Mc Guinness

Hortonville - John F. Mc Guinness, age 72, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born in Dunleer in County Louth, Ireland on April 7, 1949 to the late Jack and Christina (Egan) Mc Guinness. John and Anna got married in Donegal in 1973. They lived in Dungarvan Co. Waterford for 25 years where they raised their children. He worked for Waterford Foods and their expansion into the United States brought about a move to Wisconsin. John led his family on their journey to America and thus started part two of the journey. In retirement, he and Anna founded Mystic Ireland and Mc Guinness Irish Pub in Appleton; something they both really enjoyed where they made many friends over the years.

John was a proud Irish man that will be remembered for his patience and sense of fairness. He was a strong member of the Shamrock Club of the Fox Cities and was nominated Irish man of the year in 2000. John always took the time to talk to people about Ireland and their heritage and he touched many lives.

John is survived by his wife, Anna; three children; two son in-laws and three grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers, sister, inlaws, nephews and nieces and other extended family members in Ireland, as well as countless people that were lucky enough to have met him.

As per John's wishes a private family Mass will be held at St. Joseph Parish. He will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery. A celebration of life at Mc Guinness Irish Pub will be announced at a later date. In addition a celebration of life will be held in Dunleer as well. In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Cancer Society in John's honor.
