John Roger Truscott

1940 - 2014

John Roger Truscott Sr., 74, died August 18, 2014 in Anchorage. John was born July 22, 1940 in Seattle, Washington to Verna and Bert Truscott. As a child, he helped his father finish the interior of their family home. He served in the US Army in Germany during the construction of the Berlin Wall. He worked in the Marshall Islands before coming to Alaska in 1965. Most of his career was spent working as a bull cook on various oil rigs throughout Alaska. In 1976 he met his future wife, Jean Rumsey, and they were married in 1979. After his retirement in 1997, he joined Jean in showing Great Pyrenees. John was interested in antique cars and needle felting. He was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan, later becoming a fan of the Seattle Mariners, attending several of their games. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Eagle River; his son, Roger, of Whittier, Alaska; his sister, Evelyn Truscott, of Arizona; and his brother William Truscott. Per John's wishes, there will be no services. He will be cremated and his ashes scattered at a later date. Those wishing to contact Jean may do so through Janssen Funeral Homes.
