Jordan Herr Obituary

Jordan Rae Herr (Peterson)

West Bend - Jordan Rae Herr (Peterson) arrived in the world on October 14, 1995. A beloved wife, daughter, sister, niece, cousin & friend, Jordan unexpectedly left this world on July 20, 2021. She leaves behind her husband Avery Herr; parents: John & Wendy; sisters: Cady & Jana; parents: Aaron & Erin Ballast, parents: Jolinda Gorzelanczyk & Jason Burkard, Owen & Athena; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins & countless friends. As a young child, Jordan loved to perform, sing, and dance. She began playing the flute in third grade and joined her first Youth Orchestra in the fifth grade. Through her early and high school years, she acted on stage and performed in band, jazz band, orchestra, and Youth Orchestra. She won numerous awards and competitions for flute. Summers found Jordan at Camp Birch Trails where she started as a Camp Assistant and worked her way up to Head Cook. Her name at camp was Pinnochio. She was at her happiest there, surrounded by her lifelong camp friends: Meeko (sister Jana), Poppins (Sarah), Elmo (Hailey), Foster (Anne), Hammy (Bria) and many others. Jordan and her sisters had a special bond. The laughter, joy and love they shared was visible by all. They were the best of friends to each other, and stayed that way, even when they were states apart. The three sisters most enjoyed their time together singing along to their favorite throwback songs and having long conversations about anything and everything.

Jordan's love of music led to her attending and graduating from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 2017 with a degree in Flute Performance & Pedagogy. It was while she was studying at Lawrence that she met the love of her life, Avery. Their journey led them to Kansas City for her master's studies. It was there that she decided to change majors to Finance/Accounting. Avery & Jordan loved the outdoors and spent most of their free time at the Ballast family land…camping, hiking, and enjoying the water. Avery proposed to Jordan in February 2018 while they were backpacking through the Grand Canyon. They were married on January 10, 2020. It was a beautiful day of love and joy. Early 2020 found them moving back to Wisconsin to be closer to family. Jordan transferred to UW-Milwaukee and was a single semester away from completing her master's degree. Above everything, Jordan loved the life she and Avery shared with their cat, Moxey. Her years of cooking in the kitchen at Camp Birch Trails taught her how to cook and bake, and she quickly became exceptional at it. Jordan poured love into the food she made, which was her favorite way to show her love for the people around her. Anyone who was lucky enough to experience Jordan's cooking knows exactly what a gift she had. Jordan was a selfless, kind, quirky, and gentle soul who left us much too early. When you think of Jordan, celebrate the memories you have of the vibrant, young woman she was. Remember that life is fragile, short and should be lived to the fullest.

A celebration of Jordan's life will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Visitation will start at 10 AM, with the service immediately following at 12 PM (Noon) at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Home. Following the service, we will be traveling to Avery's mother's restaurant, the Cheesesteak Rebellion (1301 S Broadway, Green Bay), for a small reception.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Jordan's giving nature, we ask that you donate to Camper Financial Aid in Jordan (Pinnochio's) honor at gsnwgl.com/give or sent via check to GSNWGL 4693 N. Lynndale Dr Appleton, WI 54913. Please be sure to include: "In memory of Jordan Peterson" in the memo to ensure your donations goes towards Jordan's mission of supporting campers.

Wendy, John, Cady and Jana,
I was devastated to hear of Jordan passing. I have wonderful memories of the girls at Children's Discovery Center in Combined Locks. Your family was always special to me and my heart goes out to all of you. May the Lord help you through this difficult time.
