Rick Hankemeier Obituary

Hankemeier, Rick

Richard A. "Rick" Hankemeier, 51 of Menasha, passed away on August 13, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born on February 26, 1965 in Appleton to Jerold and Mary (Weber) Hankemeier. He was a 1983 graduate of Menasha High School. He attended Fox Valley Technical College to become a sheet metal journeyman. He was employed with Bassett Mechanical for 32 years, where he became the HVAC balance supervisor. On August 26, 1989 he married Michelle Miller at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Appleton. They had two wonderful daughters Ashley and Nicole. Music was a big part of Rick's life. He was a drummer with several local bands, including Foxfire, Woody and the Ticks, Autopilot and Foolish Behavior. He loved spending time with family and friends. He loved to dance, go camping and spend time at "The Shack" up north.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Michelle, daughter Ashley (special friend Quinn) Hankemeier of Menasha, daughter Nicole Hankemeier of Menasha, his parents Jerry and Mary Hankemeier, brother Randy (Kim) Hankemeier of Neenah, sister Debbie (Matt) Berg of Menasha, many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by Michelle's parents, Darrel and Judie Miller, and close friends Devin, Doug, Dave, and Jeff.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:45pm at Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri-County location on Oneida Street in Menasha. Michelle, I am so sorry for your loss and totally shocked to hear this. It seems like just a few weeks ago we ran into you both at the catfish races - I even looked for you there this year. Please know that I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all and may he rest in peace.

So sorry for your loss! Our hearts and prayers are out to you and your family. My fond memory of Rick was him playing drums down in the basement at Syrings. Good times.
